Visiting a church for the first time can be intimidating. Chances
are – when you come to Second B or any other new church, you’ll
have two questions running through your mind. How will I be treated? And,
is this a church where I will fit in?
We want your first visit to Second B to be a pleasant one. Here’s
the answer to some questions you may have as you decide whether to visit
our church.
- First, even though you’ll see lots of cars, you’ll find
ample parking.
- You’ll be greeted at the door by a friendly, helpful greeter
who will quickly guide you to where you want to go.
- No one will embarrass you at any time. You won’t be asked to
stand and identify yourself as a “visitor.”
- Our worship services have a solid, traditional sound and feel. They
are specifically designed to fill our hearts and minds with worship,
praise, joy and a special sense of the presence of God.
- Our worship services are extremely easy to follow. Everyone is asked
to stand and sit at the same time. You’ll never find yourself
standing when everyone else is sitting, or sitting when everyone else
is standing.
- Children are welcome in every worship service; however we do provide
excellent nursery care during all services. There is a “Children’s
Time” during the 10:45 a.m. service when the children are invited
to the front of the Worship Center for the children’s sermon.
Following the children’s sermon, preschoolers are taken by their
parents to Preschool Praise.
- Our facilities are clean, modern and attractive. There are easy-to-follow
signs conveniently located throughout the building. Maps of our building
and locations of Sunday School classes are located at the Information
Center in the Grand Hall.
- If you have an infant to five year-old, you’ll be pleased to
know we have one of the cleanest, safest, best-run nursery and preschool
ministries in West Texas.
- We have a first-class children’s program designed to make your
child feel loved and comfortable. Our children’s wing is a beautiful
area decorated like a Palestinian Village. Kingdom Kids Sunday
School ( 9:30 a.m. on Sundays) has a creative curriculum. The children
learn about the Bible through rotating classes that include art, cooking,
storytelling, science and music.
- Second B has a vibrant Student Ministry for
junior and senior high students with a wide range of study groups, camps,
retreats and activities. Our goal is to help teenagers grow in their
faith and become mature Christians.
- Our year-round College Ministry is a vital
part of Second B. The College Sunday School Class meets at 9:30 a.m.
on Sunday mornings and is taught by our Senior Pastor, Dr. Philip Wise.
College students gather for a free, home-cooked fellowship meal on Sunday
evenings at 7:00 p.m. Also, there is an annual mission trip and a ski
get-a-way weekend for college students.
- The Adult Education Ministry has classes on
Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. The classes on Sunday morning
begin at 9:30 a.m. and feature a variety of offerings from verse-by-verse
Bible study to special lectures and class discussions led by master
teachers. You can choose from classes based on your age, stage of life,
or interest. A greeter will be delighted to escort and introduce you
to the class of your choice.
- We have a warm and friendly pastoral staff
plus a host of lay ministers and deacons. “Every member a minister”
is a slogan we try to live by at Second B.
Now that you know what to expect, we hope you’ll feel
comfortable visiting Second Baptist. We worship a loving God who has touched
and changed our lives. As you take the next step in your spiritual journey,
we invite you to worship with us at Second B. (Take
