Seminary at Second B

Seminary Goals:

• To provide opportunities for lay persons to participate in faith instruction at a deeper level than the typical restraints of Sunday School make possible
• To develop a growing pool of well-read and well-trained Sunday School instructors for our Christian Education Ministry
• To encourage the building of personal lay libraries and study resources for life-long learning and maturation in the faith
• To extend opportunities for lay education throughout the community
• To utilize the gifts and training of Second Baptist members who hold advanced degrees in theology or religion

Second B Seminary courses are semester-length or approximately 12-14 clock hours and taught by teachers with seminary or graduate-level degrees.

Textbooks are selected at a college or graduate reading level, with a preference for reasonably priced texts whenever feasible.

Class size is limited to 25, first come/first served, and is open to community participation whenever possible. Class registration begins 4-6 weeks prior to the start of the semester. Student participation requires textbook purchase, regular attendance, and preparation for class.

Each teacher provides the class with a proposed syllabus, brief course description, and textbook choice in timely fashion for adequate preparation.

There is no tuition fee.
