Adult Ministry

Second B provides a wide range of adult ministries ranging from various small groups to special events held throughout the year. In addition to the Adult Sunday Education Program, you can find information about other women's and men's ministries below:

Providing opportunities for Christian spiritual formation is a central value at Second Baptist Church. We strive to provide stimulation for spiritual growth for folks of all backgrounds and stages in the Christian journey. At Second B, we see each other as all sharing the journey together, and we are willing to share that journey as fellow travelers do, supporting and equipping each other as we go, in the hopes of making progress in the same Spirit-led direction. We invite you to join us on the journey.

The foundation for our Christian Formation Ministry is our Sunday School program for the whole family that meets every Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. Our Sunday School classes are taught by experienced and supportive teachers and offer a variety of subject matter and teaching styles. We invite you to "shop around" for the class that best meets your needs. A complete listing of all classes, teachers, and room numbers is available in the Grand Hall at the information booth or on the Sunday School Page here on the web site.

Our adult education program extends to Wednesday evenings as well. On Wednesdays, we invite everyone to participate in our Fellowship Meal which is served continually from 5:00-6:15 p.m. in Worship Hall. At that time, we have announcements and prayer time. At 6:30 p.m. we dismiss to attend classes on a variety of topics of interest to you, which are called our "Windows" program. These classes offer qualified instruction in the areas of Bible study, discipleship, family or marriage enrichment, and creative arts. We strive to offer something of interest to everyone, no matter your age, stage, or marital status. You will find Wednesday nights a wonderful time for the whole family, as our nursery, children, and youth have exciting activities that run concurrent with the adult program.

Adult programming extends to other opportunities throughout the year as well. We have a Bible study group that meets on Thursday mornings, a young women's study group that meets on Wednesday mornings, a women's spirituality group that meets on Tuesday nights, a men's prayer group that meets on Tuesday mornings, and a young men's lunch group that meets every Wednesday. In addition to these weekly groups, we have a variety of retreats and conferences scheduled all year long - from the Adult Retreat in February and the Women’s Conference in the spring, to the Singles' Retreat and the Men's Retreat in the fall. Each of these events is an opportunity for fellowship and Christian growth for adults of all ages.
